A former Gary city official has been appointed to the Indiana Gaming Commission by Gov. Mike Braun, his office said last week.
Bridgette “B.R.” Lane, a Gary native, served as director of the Illinois Lottery from 2015 to 2016.
Before that job, she served as former Gary Mayor Karen Freeman-Wilson’s chief of staff and deputy mayor, and later became interim director of the Gary/Chicago International Airport. She graduated from the Emerson School of Visual and Performing Arts and the Harvard Law School.
After leaving the Illinois Lottery, Lane founded Helios Consulting LLC, a consulting firm that lobbies on behalf of local governments.
The gaming commission is a seven-member board that oversees Indiana’s 13 casinos and regulates and licenses charity gaming.
Attorney L. Scott Pejic, of Valparaiso, is also a member of the gaming commission board.
