Two people were injured in a physical altercation downtown Friday afternoon that ensued after a woman was sexually assaulted on the sidewalk, police said.

A 24-year-old woman was walking in the 200 block of North State Street in the Loop, less than two blocks away from the Chicago Theatre, when she was assaulted by a 31-year-old man around 4 p.m., according to Chicago police. The 31-year-old man then got into a fight with a 25-year-old man.

During the altercation, a 36-year-old woman also on scene took out a knife and stabbed both men, police said. The 31-year-old man was stabbed in the right eye and transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in good condition. The 25-year-old man was transported to Northwestern for a laceration to his left wrist. The 36-year-old woman was also transported to Northwestern for observation.

Police recovered a knife at the scene. Belmont Area detectives were investigating.
