A Carpentersville man was pronounced dead Wednesday morning after he was struck while attempting to change a tire on Interstate 80/94 in Lansing, Illinois State Police said.

About 5:30 a.m., troopers responded to a call of a crash at westbound I-80 at Torrence Avenue for a report of a pedestrian being struck. Preliminary information indicates the victim was attempting to change a tire on a vehicle when they were struck.

The victim was later identified as Sebastian D. Stone, 23, of Carpentersville, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
