WATCH PARTY PLANNED FOR SHOW ON CONSTITUTION

A watch party for “The Constitution Today: Rights, Power & the Supreme Court,” a livestream presentation hosted by political analyst Paul Lisnek, will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 30, at the Dundee Library, 555 Barrington Ave., East Dundee.

Lisnek will be joined by University of Illinois Chicago law professor Steven Schwinn and trial lawyer Robert Shapiro, an adjunct professor of philosophy at St. Xavier University in Chicago and St. Bonaventure University in New York, according to a news release.

The three will discuss the First Amendment, the three branches of the federal government and recent Supreme Court cases. The library will have snacks and beverages available during the webcast.

OPEN HOUSE SATURDAY AT ANDERSON HUMANE

An open house will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 27, at Anderson Humane, 1000 S. LaFox St., South Elgin.

Entitled “A Community of Care,” the afternoon will celebrate the nonprofit animal shelter’s 60 years of service and the people who make it possible, according to a news release.

The open house will offer tours of the facility, and there will be opportunities to play with puppies and kittens, meet a wildlife ambassador and visit interactive booths about the work Anderson Humane does, the organization’s website said. Staff will talk about how people can sponsor or donate to the nonprofit.

CHAMPION ART CLASH BEING HELD AT SIDE STREET

Eight finalists will paint against each other in the Side Street Studio Arts Art Clash championship being held from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday, June 27, at the Side Street theater, 15 Ziegler Court, Elgin.

Those competing Saturday participated in four prior clashes held this year, according to the nonprofit’s website. A spin of a wheel will determine a theme for the painters to create an on-the-spot artwork.

The format will involve preliminary rounds during which attendees vote for their favorites. Those who emerge as winners compete in a final round, the champion again being selected through an audience vote.

REVOLUTIONARY WAR PROGRAM AT RAKOW CENTER

Rebecca Tulloch will discuss life in Boston at the start of the American Revolution through the eyes of John and Abigail Adams in a program being presented at 6:30 p.m. Monday, June 29, at the Rakow Center, 665 Barrington Ave., Carpentersville.

The free presentation will cover various historical events, including protests against British taxes, the king’s soldiers restricting freedoms, shots fired in Lexington and Concord and a smallpox epidemic as well as the lives of the historic couple, according to the Fox River Valley Library website.

Tulloch will also demonstrate how to use a spinning wheel.
