A 53-year-old woman and a 46-year-old man were fatally wounded overnight in an Auburn Gresham shooting that left two other victims in critical condition, Chicago police said.
Shortly before 12:30 a.m., four victims were standing in the 7600 block of South Halsted Street when a group of four gunmen approached and opened fire, police said.
The gunmen fled southbound on foot in an alley after the attack.
A woman, 53, was shot in the head, and was taken to UChicago Medicine where she was pronounced dead. A 46-year-old man who suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the body was taken to the same hospital where he also was pronounced dead.
A 35-year-old woman who suffered a leg wound was taken to the same hospital and listed in critical condition, and a 33-year-old man who was shot multiple times to the body Ch also was taken to UChicago Medicine in critical condition, police said.
Detectives were investigating the mass shooting.
