It now offers a fully rebuilt playground with new equipment designed for toddlers and children ages 5 to 12, according to a social media post. Amenities include a handicapped-accessible spinner, swings, a climbing boulder, a half basketball court and a picnic shelter.
Elgin city spokeswoman Josie Beecher-Crotty said the park was built in 2011 as part of the neighborhood development of the Randall Road subdivision.
Renovations cost about $775,000, she said, and were paid for with money from Elgin’s Riverboat Fund.

UNAUTHORIZED TRAILS FOUND IN RACEWAY WOODS
Mountain bike group CAMBr members have spotted unauthorized trails being built and digging taking place next to the approved trail system at Raceway Woods in Carpentersville, according to a social media post.
“This is not permitted,” the post says. “All trail work performed by CAMBr at Raceway Woods is done through our agreement with, and authorization from, the Kane County Forest Preserve District. That partnership is what allows mountain biking access and sustainable trail stewardship to continue at Raceway Woods.”
The unauthorized work can damage natural areas, cause safety issues, increase erosion, confuse trail users and, “most importantly, jeopardize CAMBr’s relationship with the land manager. Long-term trail access depends on trust, professionalism and following the proper process,” the post said.
Those interested in helping improve the bike trails in Raceway Woods are welcome to join a CAMBr crew and assist on an approved workday.
