Albert E. “Al” Notbusch, a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to many, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2026, at the age of 86. Al was born on March 13, 1940, in Chicago, Illinois, to Joseph and Dorothy (nee Morgan) Notbusch. He was one of eleven children and has now joined his parents and siblings in eternal rest.

Al lived a life rich in family and adventure. He was predeceased by his sisters Josephine (Jerry) Polanczyk, Marie Klinger, and Dorothy “Toni” (Leonard) Murray, and his brothers Henry, William “Bill,” Elroy, Paul, George and Joseph.

Though his passing leaves an irreplaceable void, his legacy continues through his loving wife, Judy (Hart) Notbusch, with whom he shared many cherished years of marriage. Al is survived by his children, Phyllis (David) Maas, Kathleen (Tom) Mackniskas, Patty Toller, Angela Austin, Nick (Dawn) Notbusch, Shelly (Dale) Schultz, Jamie (Tanya) Maher, Shirley Overton and brother Robert. Al’s family has grown to include numerous grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, each of whom brought immense joy to his life. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who will fondly remember their Uncle Al.

Al spent his working years as a dedicated long-haul trucker, known affectionately by his CB handle, “Whatnot.” His career was a testament to his work ethic and love for the open road, a passion that was matched only by his devotion to his family. Al was a proud member of the Teamsters, Moose heart, and the Tigers Club of Aurora, IL, where he built lasting friendships. Beyond his professional life, Al was a man of varied interests and hobbies. He could often be found on a lakes and rivers, Fishing with friends and family, or on the golf course, enjoying a round under the sun.

A devoted fan of the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Bears , Al celebrated every win and endured every loss with equal fervor. His love for travel and adventure was evident in his stories of trips taken, as well as the singular time he fulfilled a lifelong dream of flying a plane. Al also had a fondness for visiting zoos, always finding joy in the beauty and diversity of the animal kingdom.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 7, 2026 from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM at DUNN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME with CREMATORY, 1801 S. Douglas Road, Oswego, Illinois 60543. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 8, 2026 at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Montgomery, IL.
