Anthony J Izzo Sr. OBITUARY

Anthony “Tony” Izzo Sr., born June 13, 1944, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2026, at the age of 82.

Affectionately known throughout the Chicagoland stock car racing community as

“Shaggy” #66, Tony was the retired CEO of Kerry’s Autobody and a lifelong stock car racer. His dedication to the sport earned him induction into the Illinois Stock Car Hall of Fame in 2017.

He is survived by his beloved life partner, Helen Goldner; his children, Dan (Trish) Izzo, Tony Izzo Jr., Joey (Nicole) Izzo, and Kerrianne (Rocky) Izzo; his grandchildren, Aryanna Izzo, Franklin Izzo, Martin Izzo, and Penny Izzo; his brothers, Gilbert Izzo Sr., Richard Izzo, and Bruce Izzo; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his sister, Carol, and his brother, Alan.

Tony will be remembered for his strength, generosity, loyalty, and passion for racing.

Private funeral services will be held at St. Casimir Cemetery Chapel followed by interment at the cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a dialysis-related charity of the donor’s choice in Tony’s memory.

A special memorial race celebrating Tony’s life will be held at LaSalle Speedway at a future date. Details will be announced.
