Barry J Heber OBITUARY
Barry J Heber OBITUARY
Barry Jay Heber departed from this world on Thursday, April 30, 2026, in Woodstock, VA. Born in Chicago on February 27, 1959, to Joseph and Dorothy Heber, Barry grew up with his three sisters in Northbrook, moving to Libertyville in 1968. Barry was a 1977 graduate of Libertyville High School and a 1981 grad of Northern Illinois University, earning his bachelor’s degree. Throughout his life, Barry cultivated meaningful relationships with many friends and colleagues, thanks to his fun-loving, gentle, and playful nature. He was a loyal NIU Huskies fan as well as a devoted Cubs and Bears fan.
Armed with a solid background in management and business administration, Barry launched his professional career at Marriott’s Great America, currently known as Six Flags, located in Gurnee, Illinois. His career in the theme park industry took him to Geauga Lake and Wyandot Lake in Ohio, Magic Springs in Arkansas and finally Park City Kansas at Wild West World. He then transitioned to Public Storage management, retiring in 2024 to Edinburg, VA, living with his sister Cheryl and her husband, Tom, on their farm in the Shenandoah Valley. Barry was enjoying life and his sister’s great cooking until suffered a stroke in January leading to his passing in April.
Barry will be sorely missed by his three sisters, Cheryl (Tom) Kerr, Debra (David) Zare and Donna (Tom) Buchholz, his nieces and nephews along with the many friends and colleagues he made along the way. In every place Barry landed, the same story is told; he was gentle, dedicated and had a great laugh, making people feel good and feel valued. A celebration of life is being planned for late summer, early fall.
