Brother Neil Kieffe, FSC OBITUARY

Brother Neil Kieffe, 93, died on July 20, 2026, at StoryPoint in Romeoville, Illinois. A De La Salle Christian Brother for 68 years, he was born William Charles Kieffer, Jr. on May 21, 1933, to William C. Kieffe and Margaret (Redmond) Kieffe in St. Joseph (Buchanan), Missouri. He attended Creighton University in Omaha, NE and graduated from Iowa State in Ames, Iowa with a BsAeroE. He also attended Saint Mary’s in Winona, MN and received both an MS and Ed.D. from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, IL. He served in the USAF at Wright-Petterson AFB. He taught at De La Salle Institute and was the Principal at Saint Patrick High School in Chicago. Br. Neil was a professor and administrator at Lewis University in Romeoville, IL for many years. He also spent 31 years at Bethlehem University in Bethlehem, Palestine, as the Director of Instructional Technology and Academic Vice President. Survivors include his sister, Mrs. Kay Barmettler of Cullman, AL, his niece, Beth Laws of Richmond, VA, his nephew James Barmettler of Camas, WA, and the De La Salle Christian Brothers.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on July 27, 2026, at 11:00 am at St. Charles Borromeo Chapel at Lewis University, Romeoville, IL. Visitation will be held prior to Mass from 10:00am until 11:00am. Interment private. Memorials may be made to the Christian Brothers, 7650 S. County Line Rd., Burr Ridge, IL 60527.
