Dennis Edward Allman OBITUARY

Dennis Edward Allman, age 80, of Frankfort, passed away on June 13th, 2026.

Born on September 14, 1945 to Edward and Elsie Allman in Chicago, Dennis enjoyed exploring and spending time outside. After studying physical education at the University of Illinois Navy Pier, he went on to teach in Chicago Public Schools for his entire career. In 1973, he swept Esther “Midge” off her feet while both were teaching at Harper High School, and they wed in 1975.

Being a force of nature, Dennis was determined to live the life he wanted and do things his way. He loved traveling. Some of his favorite destinations included Australia and Europe during his summers off and Costa Rica, Alaska, and the Florida Keys with Midge once retired. He was a dedicated father coaching many sports teams and always supporting both his children at all their events. His seven grandchildren, who lovingly called him “Papa D,” always brought him joy and he always brought them a new Hot Wheels car with each visit.

Dennis is survived by his loving wife Midge; son Alexander (Vanessa) Allman and their children Evan, Eliana, and Emeila; and daughter Marie (Matt) McLaughlin and their children Liam, Lucas, Nathan, and Nicholas.

To honor Dennis’s love of nature, the family welcomes donations to The National Parks Foundation. There will be a Celebration of Life on July 12th where family and friends are invited to join in remembrance and support. Please contact the family for details.
