With breaking hearts, we announce that Elena M. Phelan, 41 years old, died on June 21, 2026 at home in Arlington Heights, IL after courageously battling lingering illnesses. She was the beloved and cherished daughter of Marianne (nee Trippon), and Bernard A. Phelan and the dear sister of Daniel M. Phelan. She was dearly loved by her many aunts, uncles, and cousins. In addition she was dearly loved by numerous friends and co-workers, who are devastated at her passing.

Elena grew up in Barrington, attending local schools and graduated with the class of 2003 from Barrington High School, later attending Harper College and UTI Automotive School.

Elena was a loving, compassionate woman of integrity. She was funny, whip-smart, and insightful. A talented artist, specializing in illustration, she had fresh perspectives on life and delighted in creating art, while also delving in depth into music, animals, reading, journaling, cars, and puzzles. She was our sweetheart.

She was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents, as well as several great- aunts and great-uncles and, sadly, a number of friends.

Visitation will be Wednesday, July 1, 2026, from 1 PM until 2:30 PM, followed immediately by services at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main Street, Barrington. Private inurnment will occur at a later date at St. Michael Cemetery, Palatine.

In lieu of flowers, donations made in her memory to the Kidney Transplant Center via the Department of Development, Mayo Clinic, 200 First St., SW, Rochester, MN 55905 are appreciated.
