Harvey Rose, age 78, was born on July 29, 1947 in Chicago, Illinois and passed away peacefully at Sunrise Senior Living in Highland Park, Illinois on Sunday May 31, 2026 at the age of 78. Harvey fought like a warrior until the end. Harvey grew up in Skokie, Illinois where he developed an early passion for baseball, playing baseball with his neighborhood friends in the streets and parks. He attended Niles East High School where he played on the high school baseball team, and after he moved to Glenview as an adult, he enjoyed playing on a local softball team for many years. Several of the people on his softball team were the same childhood friends that he grew up playing baseball with. Harvey spent a long and distinguished career as a Certified Public Accountant for over 55 years. Throughout his career, he built long-lasting relationships and became a trusted advisor who advocated for his clients’ best interests. He had a deep zest for life, whether he was traveling to new places, taking in a night at the theater, enjoying the energy of the casino, or experiencing the thrill of betting on horses. An avid Chicago sports fan and a passionate supporter of Northwestern University, one of his greatest joys was witnessing the historic Chicago Cubs win the 2016 World Series. But more than anything, Harvey loved his family, finding his absolute greatest happiness in the moments they shared together. Harvey was preceded in death by his parents, Philip Rose and Pauline Reichstein Rose, and his sister Marlene Rose Friedlander. Harvey is survived by his loving wife Joyce Rose; his sons Scott Rose and Bradley (Hannah) Rose; his stepdaughter Kathryn Pryce (Ryan Dengel); his grandchildren Simon and Matilda Rose, and Vera and Rilynn Dengel; and his lifelong best friend, Don Lazaar. Harvey will be deeply missed and forever remembered. Memorial donations may be made in Harvey’s memory to the International Waldenstrom’s Macroglobulinemia Foundation (IWMF).
