John J. Satka OBITUARY

John J. Satka, age 90, passed away on June 30, 2026. He was born on November 22, 1935, in Winona, Minnesota and moved to Gary, Indiana, at the age of two and lived in the Ambridge area. John went to Holy Angels grade school and graduated from Horace Mann in 1953. He was employed at U.S. Steel in the Metallurgical Department and retired in 1999 with 45 years of service. He married his beloved wife Joyce in 1955 and moved to Aetna and then Crown Point, IN. John enjoyed fishing and flea markets. He was a member of Our Lady of Consolation Church in Crown Point. John was preceded in death by his parents, Harry & Louise Satka; beloved wife, Joyce of 58 years; son, John R. Satka; brother, Richard Satka; and sisters, Mary Keyes and Eileen Simon. He is survived by his son, James (Debbie) Satka of Valparaiso; daughter, Lori Klimaszewski of Culver; grandchildren: Ryan (Hana) Satka, Brandi (Dale) Gebert, Stefanie (Charles) Riley, Cody Klimaszewski, Haley (Walker) Klimaszewski; great grandchildren: Colie Satka, Emily Wilusz and Carter Riley. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home & Crematory, 10101 Broadway, Crown Point, IN. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. directly at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs South Campus, 8303 Taft Street, Merrillville, IN. Interment at Chapel Lawn Cemetery, Crown Point, IN. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in John’s name to The Alzheimer’s Foundation www.alzfdn.org/donate.
