John Matthew Baumann OBITUARY

John Matthew Baumann, of Chicago and Northfield (38) passed onto his next journey on Thursday, May 28, 2026, after a courageously fought battle with pancreatobiliary cancer, surrounded by loved ones.

He is survived by his mother, Marian Moran Baumann; his father, Robert R. Baumann, Jr., preceded him in death. Brother to Michael, Daniel (Valerie); Elizabeth (Eric Long); Uncle to Teddy and Cecilia Baumann. Father to beloved dog, Jack. John is also survived by his beloved cousins, aunts & uncles.

John graduated from Salisbury School in Connecticut, where he excelled as a high school All American lacrosse player. He went on to compete at the D1 collegiate level for both the University of Denver and Hobart College.

John was a kind, funny, generous, sweet soul who brought joy to this world. His great work ethic, leadership and determination taught an invaluable lesson to all those around him.

A celebration of life ceremony will be held in his honor, later this summer.
