Joseph Martner OBITUARY
Joseph Martner OBITUARY
Joseph “Joe” Martner, 62, of Aurora, Illinois, passed away in his childhood home on June 18, 2026, following an unforeseen decline due to diabetic complications, with his mother and stepfather present.
Born March 31, 1964, Joe was a proud father, grandfather, son, brother, and uncle, whose greatest joy was spending time with family, especially while cooking. He was incredibly skilled in the kitchen, and the meals he prepared often brought loved ones together around the dinner table. An avid golfer, his talent and love for the game brought opportunities to play courses around the world. Joe was also a former member of the Montgomery Trap Club, and an active committee member of the former Fox Valley Ducks Unlimited Chapter in Aurora.
Joe had a deep love for fishing, and the Florida Gulf was where his heart felt at peace. It was his happy place, his home, and where he spent many meaningful years sharing that love of the ocean with his two cherished daughters, Jordan Martner and Brooklyn Martner. In keeping with his wishes, his daughters will honor his memory by returning his ashes to the Florida Gulf, the waters that shaped much of their childhood and hold some of their most treasured moments with their father.
Those who knew Joe will remember his blunt and unfiltered sense of humor, and his uncanny ability to make people laugh without trying.
Joe is survived by his loving daughters, Jordan Martner and Brooklyn Martner; his cherished grandchildren, Gianna and Luca Johnson; his mother and stepfather, Julie and Jerry Elliott; his sister, Jill Harker; stepsister, Lindsey (Matt) Strom; stepbrother, RJ Elliott; life partner, Kari Reed, and her two daughters; his beloved nephews and niece; as well as aunts, uncles, and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his younger brother, Michael Martner; his uncle, George Cies; and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
A Celebration of Life honoring Joe will be held at 1:00pm on Sunday, July 5th, 2026, at Blackberry Oaks Golf Course, 2245 Kennedy Road, Bristol, Illinois 60512.
