Lennart S. Svensson OBITUARY
Lennart “Len” Svensson, 89, beloved husband, dad, grandfather, and friend, passed away Tuesday, June 16, 2026, after a long illness. Len was born in Gothenburg, Sweden in December, 1936. He came to America at the age of 25 with $25 in his pocket. He started working for his cousin in Aurora, took night classes at Northwestern to earn his CPA and had a side business of completing tax returns. He landed a job at Miami Corporation where he started as a tax accountant and worked his way up to Treasurer and Officer; he worked there for 31 years until retiring at age 60. Len met Bonnie in Green Lake, WI over Labor Day weekend in 1964. They married just 8 months later. They later purchased land in Green Lake and built a summer home with much of the construction completed by Len on the weekends. Len enjoyed boating, fishing and golfing in WI and even created a weekly men’s golf league. Len and Bonnie lived in Park Ridge with children, Susan and Steven. He was a member of the Park Ridge Country Club, he played bridge and was a voracious reader; he loved sailing when he was younger and was a hockey referee at the local park district. He was a world traveler with numerous trips to Europe, an African safari and a trip to Australia. Upon retirement, Len and Bonnie split their time between Arizona and Wisconsin. He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Bonnie Svensson; daughter, Susan (the late Joe) Donatello; son, Steve Svensson; grandchildren, Katrina, Jesse, and Zach. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a future date. Information please call (847) 823-1171 or visit ryan-parke.com
