Martin L Magee OBITUARY
Martin “Marty” Magee Jr., 87, of Western Springs, passed away June 21, 2026. A beloved husband, father, and community member, Marty was preceded in death by his dear wife, Patricia “Pat” Magee. He is survived by his daughter Erin Magee (Dave Aust); sons Marty III and Patrick Magee (Melissa); and grandchildren Megan and Ryan Aust and Lucy and Max Magee. Born August 27, 1938, on Chicago’s Southside, Marty was the youngest child of the late Martin L. and Lucille Hurley Magee. He attended St. Dorothy School and graduated from De La Salle High School, where he earned football scholarship offers before choosing to enlist in the Marines in the fall of 1958. He later graduated from St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa. He is predeceased by his siblings Joseph, Nancy Drumm (James), William, and Mary Lu Leonard (Thomas), and is survived by sisters-in-law Maureen Magee and Joan Magee. He was also brother-in-law to the late James and Marie Petersen and a cherished uncle to many. In 1980, Marty co-founded McCarthy & Magee Representatives, Inc. alongside the late William McCarthy, growing the organization over multiple decades, later joined by his two sons. Marty was a proud Chicagoan, especially of his Southside roots, and lifelong White Sox fan. With his mischievous smile and unmistakable laugh, he was the life of the party. While he loved a good celebration, he most deeply treasured his time with family and friends. Marty was a longtime member of the LaGrange Country Club, where he spent many happy hours on the golf course and in the 19th hole, and he always cherished the special years spent at Abbey Springs on Lake Geneva. Visitation will be held Friday, July 10th from 9:00–10:30 a.m.at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, Countryside, followed by a Mass at St. Cletus Church, LaGrange at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to De La Salle Institute (https://dls.org/giving-to-de-la-salle/) or Mercy Home for Boys & Girls ( https://www.mercyhome.org/ways-to-give/).
