Michael Robert Murphy OBITUARY

Mike Murphy, a resident of Fort Davis, TX since 2001, formerly of Palos Heights and Chicago, IL, passed away on May 25, 2026 at MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, TX. He was born on November 18, 1954 in Evergreen Park, IL. Mike grew up in Palos Heights and graduated Harold L. Richards High School (1972) and National Lewis University. He was preceded in death by his parents Philip F. Murphy Jr and Jean (Cain) Murphy and sisters Jeannie Murphy-Mittal (Jim) and Susan “Suzie” Murphy. He is survived by his wife Debbie; siblings Philip Murphy III (Julia), Eileen Amlee (Duane), Sharon Richardson (Tim), Mary Castle (Kent) and David Murphy (Stacy Alexander). Brother-in-law to Barbara Brescian (John) and Herb Johnson (Laura). He was an uncle, great-uncle, nephew, cousin and friend to many. As a management and technology consultant with IBM and Ernst & Young, Mike’s life took him to all corners of the U.S. Mike and Debbie moved to Fort Davis, TX where Mike opened Murphy’s Pizzeria & Cafe, sold it and acquired Texas Mountain Realty. Mike was an active community leader and volunteer with Texas Nature Conservancy, Leadership Big Bend, FD Lions, TX Mountain Trail Board, and was an avid bicyclist and hiker. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on August 23, 2026 at Davis Mountains Preserve McIvor Conservation Center Fort Davis, TX.
