Nancy Clausen Bothfeld OBITUARY

Nancy Clausen Bothfeld OBITUARY

Nancy Clausen Bothfeld, Born May 18, 1937 and passed July 4th, 2025. Known as Aunt Nancy to me, My Godmother, was one of a kind.

She was always kind to me and my siblings. Nancy was put together with a great sense for classic fashion and carried herself in a sure footed, intentional and spirited manner. You always knew where you stood with her and she wasn’t afraid to mince words.

Nancy met my Mom back in College and they became fast life-long friends. To this day my Father shares many stories that we will keep the details at bay for obvious reasons. Imagine the Era of the Series “Mad Men”or the more recent “Palm Royal” with a very busy social calendar and many friends, events and happenings. Life didn’t owe them anything. As my father said, “let’s just say Nancy was a “Lover of Fun”…in his words.

That Lover of Fun finally found her True Love in Life, Edward “Ned” Bothfeld, and they were married for over 47 Years. These two were mean’t for each other since the day they met. Many Friends and Family have shared stories that Ned knew the day he first laid eyes on Nancy, that she was “The One”. She absolutely adored Ned in a way that I have rarely witnessed.

They shared a beautiful life together in Winnetka with Happy times on Hoyt lane, Celebrations at the Club and took part in many of our Family celebrations. Nancy and Uncle Ned were Wonderful Godparents.

In retirement, Nancy and Ned moved to Scottsdale for the next chapter in their lives. They bought a house next door to David and Ivo, a wonderful neighborly happenstance that was meant to be.

They shared a love for Dogs, took care of each other, enjoyed many meals, merriment and opinionated conversations, I am sure.

As Life progressed, in their “Golden Years”, David, without being asked, took on the care for both Ned and Nancy. He was there for them in the kindest way one could be and sacrificed for as much comfort as he could provide in their time of need.

Both Nancy and Ned Loved David and feelings were mutual. She told me many, many times how grateful she was to have David in her life. Nancy’s final peace and rest came in the early hours of July 4th of last year.

Aunt Nancy was beautiful Lady who was loved by many. Katie H & Katie P she loved you both, this I know. It fills my heart that Nancy is now back together with her adoring husband, Ned, once again and is at peace in his beautiful Duxbury, MA.

Nancy is survived by her daughter Tracy Meara, Son in Law Michael Meara, Nancy’s loving grandchildren Meghan, and Nancy Rose Meara. Niels Sr. And his children, Godson’s Christian and Niels, their siblings Karina and Erik. Katie P for her loving care and often viewed as many did, Nancy as a second Mother in life. With utmost gratitude to David and Ivo for being there for her on a daily, hourly and minute basis. Many others and her companions in life; her dogs.

In her loving memory, please feel free to donate anything on her behalf to an animal shelter or any cause that helps dogs in any way – these were her second loves in life!
