Norma S. Sweeney OBITUARY

Norma Sweeney, (née Strotz), 93, of Chicago, peacefully passed away in her home on April 13th. Beloved wife of the late Michael J. Sweeney, mother of Kieran, Bryan and Jonathan, mother-in-law to Magdalen, Yvonne Van Gessel, and Susan Barrett. and proud grandmother of Calvin Sweeney. Loving sister to the late Helen Van Mell and Mary Strotz; aunt to Robert and Derrick Van Mell, Wendy Sander, Helene Wineberg, and the late Scott Sander; and fond relative and friend to many others. Norma taught primary school for many years. She led an active life after retirement, volunteering at many organizations including: Rush Medical Center; WFMT; Chicago Public Library; Chicago Public Schools; Norwood Crossing thrift shop; North Park Village Nature Center; and ushered as a Saint for over 20 years. Norma solo traveled to many European countries. She avidly watched birds in her backyard, enjoying its flora and fauna. In lieu of flowers, donations in her honor may be made to the North Park Village Nature Center. Memorial service at a later date.
