Robert G Myers OBITUARY
Robert G. Myers, most recently of Wilmette, Illinois, passed away peacefully at a nursing home in Glenview on June 15, 2026, at the age of 93.
Born in Denison, Texas, on November 30, 1932, Bob was the son of Gilbert and Jeanette Myers. He grew up in Wilmette and graduated from New Trier High School, Class of 1950. While in high school, he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America. Following graduation he attended Iowa State University (as had his parents) and was a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity. He graduated from Iowa State in 1954, and shortly thereafter married Karyl Yates, with whom he was wed for 62 years until her passing in 2016.
Bob worked for most of his career at R.R. Donnelley & Sons in Chicago, retiring as Group President of the Magazine Division in 1990. While at Donnelley, he attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology as a Sloan Fellow and received a Master of Business Administration.
Prior to moving to Wilmette, Bob and his wife Karyl lived for many years in Lake Bluff, IL where they were long time members of Shoreacres. They were also members of Loblolly in Hobe Sound, Florida, where Bob was club president in the early 2000’s (and always sported the best tan).
Bob is survived by his son Greg Myers (Caryl), daughter Karyn Myers and son Rich Myers (Molly) and his brother Ted Myers of Lake Zurich, Illinois. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Quinn, Mary and Virginia Myers.
A memorial service will be held at 11am on Friday, July 10 at the Kenilworth Union Church, of which Bob was a member. The service can also be viewed live using this internet link: https://kuc.org/watch/
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Kenilworth Union Church, The Ronald McDonald House of Chicagoland or the charity of your choice.
Bob Myers will be remembered for his gregarious and sparkling spirit. His zest for life and love of family and friends will be greatly missed.
