Robert M. Lanigan of Lake Forest, Illinois passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by family on June 25, 2026. Robert was born on September 28, 1955 in La Porte, Indiana to Frank and Dorothy Lanigan. He attended La Lumiere School and received a Bachelor of Arts from Indiana University and a Masters of Business Administration from The University of Chicago. His long and successful career spanned over 40 years in financial services, ultimately becoming a Managing Director at Morgan Stanley. He was well respected and a trusted advisor in the Chicago business community. His quick wit and generous personality made him friends wherever he went. He was a true Renaissance man, always curious about the world and a master of many intellectual pursuits He was a man of faith, integrity, and stewardship and was deeply loved by family, friends, and anyone who had the privilege of knowing him He considered his family one of his greatest accomplishments, where he stood as the guiding hand and moral compass. Beloved husband of Deborah Hayes Lanigan for 45 years; loving father of Meghan, Maureen, and Cathleen Lanigan; brother of Catherine Lanigan (Bill), Edward Lanigan (Mary), and the late Nancy Porter; brother-in-law of David Porter and William Hayes (Karen); and uncle of Ryan Pieszchala (Christy) , Karen Lanigan, Elizabeth Lanigan, Elaine Perez (Tom), the late Benjamin Porter, Samuel Porter (Jacqueline), Kelly Hayes-Whittle (Zach), Patrick Hayes (Heather), and Robert Hayes (Aashka).

Visitation 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM Monday, June 29, 2026 at Wenban Funeral Home, 320 Vine Avenue, Lake Forest. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, June 30, 2026 at Church of St. Mary, 175 E. Illinois Road, Lake Forest, IL. Interment at All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines, IL.
