Roman William Poetzel OBITUARY

Roman William Poetzel, 86, passed peacefully at home on March 19, 2026. Born on July 9, 1939, he was the son of Roman J. Poetzel and Christine Thompson. He was the faithful husband of Susan Marie Poetzel (Caspers), loving father of Megan, Adam, Chris, and Karen, and proud grandfather of 12 grandchildren. He also is survived by his siblings, Bob, Al, and Ruth. Roman served in the U.S. Army as a military policeman, worked as an engineer and project manager, and was a devoted member of St. Joseph’s Parish in Downers Grove, Illinois for more than 40 years. He will be remembered for his love of family, cherished holiday traditions, and fondness for Pabst Blue Ribbon and chocolate cake. A visitation will take place on Saturday, May 30 at 9:15 am followed by a memorial mass at 10:30 am at St. Joseph’s, 4801 Main Street, Downers Grove, IL 60515.
