Ronald N. Ben OBITUARY
Ronald N. Ben, a longtime Naperville resident, passed away on June 23, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was 88 years old. Born on July 4, 1937, Ron is survived by his wife of 41 years, Florence Ben; his brother, Terrence (Rosemary) Benn; and his children, Michael (Susan) Ben, Lori (Bill) Nowacki, Jeffrey (Tracy Hurt) Ben, Mary (Ken) Kowalski, and Robert (Susan Stoga) Ben. He was a proud grandfather of Mark Ben, Andrew Kowalski, William Nowacki, Jennifer Osinski, Christopher Nowacki, Alyssa Kowalski, Daniel Hurt Ben, Matthew Ben, and Caroline Ben, and a beloved great-grandfather to Elizabeth Kowalski. Ron is also survived by many nieces and nephews, including Jon Benn, Deborah Benn, and Kelli Cermak. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marilyn Kupferschmidt Ben; his sister, Shirley Jamrock; and his parents, Bernard and Alvina Ben. Ron grew up in Chicago and, after graduating from Mt. Carmel High School, served in the United States Marines. Upon leaving the service, he began a career in banking. Later, while raising five children, he attended Northwestern University at night, studying computer science. Ron went on to join Sears Roebuck’s emerging technology department at the dawn of the computer era, and spent more than three decades there, retiring as a Vice President. Ron had a deep love for tennis, fine food — especially anything prepared by Florence — and wine. He played tennis well into his seventies and followed professional tennis circuits with great enthusiasm. He also took pleasure in researching and curating a wine collection, delighting in sharing both the bottles and his tasting notes with family. Services have been held. Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services was entrusted with arrangements. For information call 630-355-0213 or visit www.friedrich-jones.com
