Russell M. Corcoran, born on a Sunday, February 14, 1943, passed away at the age of 83 on Thursday, May 21, 2026.

Russell was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carol Corcoran (née Lenz); his brother, Roger; and, just recently, his beloved cousin, Roberta Santo. He is survived by his brother, John Corcoran; his loving daughters, Kathleen Garza (Phillip), Kelly Walley (Thomas), and Meghann Sanger (Michael); and Carol’s children, Scott Troyen (Natty) and Wendi Richter (Gary). He was the proud grandfather of Angeleah, John Russell, Grace, Molly, Cole, Daniel, and Michael. Many nieces and nephews also survive him. He became a great-grandfather shortly after his passing

A true railroad man, Russell proudly carried on a family legacy as a conductor, brakeman, and switchman. His deep Chicago roots never wavered. Russell served honorably in the United States Army and as a Chicago Police Officer. In the next chapter of his life, his passion for the railroad continued, and he excelled in railroad sales, which gave him enjoyment as he prospered.

Through every stage of life, Russell was an old-fashioned Irishman. He cherished the memories and friendships he made at Woodmar Country Club. His humor, wit, and the famous 4-hour lunches with family and friends at his favorite Chicago restaurants will be fondly remembered. Russell’s epic gift for sharing stories was authentic and filled with laughter. He valued long-standing friendships, time with family, good conversation, and a round of golf. He will be missed by all who loved him.
