Sakina Bharani OBITUARY

Sakina Bharani, physician, gemologist, and lifelong learner, passed away on July 7, 2026, at the age of 83.

Born in Calcutta, India, Sakina completed medical school before marrying Nitin Bharani and moving to the United States in 1970. She built a career as an allergist spanning more than four decades, caring for generations of patients. After retiring from medicine, she became a certified gemologist and volunteered and taught at the Lizzadro Museum of Lapidary Art, where she shared her knowledge and enthusiasm for gemstones.

Sakina loved traveling with family and friends, exploring destinations around the world. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Nitin; daughters Sunita, Nootan, and Sujata; sons-in-law Jeff and Andy; and grandchildren Joel, Sid, Neem, and June.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Lizzadro Museum of Lapidary Art in honor of Sakina’s years of volunteer service, teaching, and lifelong passion for gemology.
