Salvatore Passero (1942–2026)

Salvatore “Sam” Passero, age 83, of Northlake, Norridge, Cicero and Chicago, passed away on June 9, 2026. He was born in Chicago in 1942 to Maria Clemente and Carmine Passero, the ninth of ten children. Salvatore attended St. Philip Basilica High School before working at Rossbach, R. Cooper Jr., Madigan’s and All-Tile, among others. Salvatore was preceded in death by his siblings Carmen (Jr.), Joseph, Alvera (Vera) John, Phylis (Dolly) and Anthony, and is survived by sisters Mary and Jean, and brother Frankie. He is survived by his children Laura, Cynthia and Michael (Nicole); grandchildren Kelly (Tim), Aron, Kyle, Vince, Anthony, Melissa, Michael and great-grandchild, Maya; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation is Monday, June 15, 3 to 8pm, at Hitzeman Funeral Home, Ltd. 9445 31st Street, Brookfield, IL 60513. A cemetery service will take place Tuesday, June 16, at Queen of Heaven Cemetery Chapel, Hillside, IL. Anyone wishing to attend is asked to meet at the cemetery office by 11am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Heart Association, the American Diabetes Association, or the National Kidney Foundation.
