Sandra Kaeding OBITUARY

Sandra O. Kaeding, 78, of Evanston, IL passed away on July 1, 2026. She was born in Quincy, IL to John and Maurine (nee Miller) Orr.

Sandy loved raising her three children in the small community of Lake Bluff, IL and spent several years volunteering at A Safe Place in Waukegan, IL, a shelter for women and children escaping domestic violence. Sandy received her BA in Mathematics from the University of Illinois and her Masters in Social Work from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Sandy’s commitment to supporting individuals led her to a career in clinical social work with a private practice and a contract with the United States Navy working as a therapist in the Family Service Center. Sandy will be remembered for the care and compassion she extended to her family, friends and the community around her.

In her spare time, Sandy enjoyed crafting and was an exceptional seamstress, quilter and quilt designer. Sandy also loved to cook and was a skilled baker; her holiday cookies, bars and pies will not be easily replaced.

Sandy is survived by her dear husband of 57 years, Tom; her beloved children Peter (Wendy Reutebuch) Kaeding, David Kaeding, and Kerry (Justin) Moreland; her adoring grandchildren Benton, Thatcher, and Tim; and her loving siblings Jeff Orr and Terry (Beachy) Orr. Sandy was preceded in death by her parents.
