Susan L. Benham, 90, passed away on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, Illinois. She was born on April 15, 1936, in Chicago, Illinois, where she resided until moving to Libertyville in 2001. Susan earned her bachelor’s degree from Northern Illinois Teachers College, now Northern Illinois University. She began her career as a teacher, working in both New York and Illinois for several years. Later, she enjoyed working as a retail salesclerk at Water Tower Place in Chicago. Finally, she was a caregiver to her mother, Olga & father, Albert before their deaths. Susan had a passion for walking and exploring new places before MS struck. She also found great pleasure in arts and crafts and purchasing unique items. Her kind spirit and appreciation for life’s simple pleasures brought joy to those who knew her. She is survived by her brother, Jeffery Benham; her niece, Michelle Benham and caretaker, Crystal Clampit. Susan was preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Gloria Benham, in 2003.
