Thomas Earl Gray of Chicago, IL passed away peacefully in his home on May 5, 2026. He was born in Clinton, Mississippi on November 4, 1941. He was 1 of 13 children born to Jeff Gray, Sr and Thomizene Robinson Gray. Tom moved to Chicago at the age of 20. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering and a Master’s Degree in Computer Science from Illinois Institute of Technology. He worked as a System Analyst and Computer System Designer for Standard Oil Company (Amoco) until he retired in 1993. He worked for the city of Chicago in several areas. Tom worked in the Office of Special Events as Director of Community Relations, Director of Sports Development and Aldermanic Liaison for the Mayor. He served on a number of boards and committees in the City. Thomas was a big personality. He was a man who never met a stranger. He has been called “Ambassador of Chicago”.
