CONCERNED THAT its alien invaders were becoming little more than a space- age ”A-Team,” NBC-Ch. 5 has changed its ”V” scripts to push personal stories, infuse ”a generous dose of humor” and put some rocket fire under its less-than-hot ratings. At 7 p.m. Friday, ”V” gets another boost: Hunk Duncan Regehr joins the cast for several episodes as ”the cunning, powerful Charles.”

No, it`s not ”Charles in Charge” (that`s a CBS comedy). This Charles is an intergalactic overseer who comes to Earth to check the progress of his middle management, notably the power-hungry Diana. She, in turn, ”vies for his favors,” as NBC delicately puts it.

This is a busy time for Regehr. He plays Errol Flynn in a three-hour made-for-TV movie ”My Wicked, Wicked Ways” to be seen Jan. 21 on CBS-Ch. 2. On Feb. 2, back on ”V,” he will wed the beautiful Diana in a typical alien ceremony: an exchange of vows followed by a feast of tarantulas and a bath in wet, green slime.
