Recently we were in the Chicago area and decided to stop at a German restaurant in the heart of the Loop just two to three blocks off Michigan Avenue. We had not been in that vicinity for several years.
Unfortunately, I must tell you that my husband and I were very disappointed with the overall appearance of the Loop, which was strewn with litter and generally looked dirty. Living in South Bend, just an hour and a half away, affords us the advantage of visiting Chicago for sports, culture and other entertainment on a regular basis. We sincerely hope that the unkempt look of the Loop was the result of a festival being held along Lake Shore Drive and not the deterioration of pride in your fine city.
