The panel of Roman Catholic bishops that wrote the draft pastoral letter on the U.S. economy has added a section calling for more federal aid to farmers. This proposal comes after the four years in which American farmers received more than $50 billion in subsidies, more than the total they have received in the previous 20 years.
Increasingly, the American bishops` ”solution” to every domestic problem involves more federal handouts from already overburdened taxpayers. This Roman Catholic is deeply disturbed that his church has become an auxiliary of the Democratic Party.
