Communications Minister Marcel Masse resigned Wednesday, saying he was being investigated under Canada`s Elections Act.

The 49-year-old minister refused to elaborate on the nature of the investigation but said he was sure he would be cleared of any wrongdoing.

Masse was the second minister to resign from the Conservative Cabinet in three days. Fisheries Minister John Fraser resigned Monday after admitting he approved the release of more than a million cans of tuna that federal inspectors previously found unfit for human consumption.
