Like President Reagan, with some reservations, President Franklin D. Roosevelt was my first political hero.

But as the national debt nears the $2 trillion mark, Reagan is talking more and more like FDR.

Among other things, Reagan, alluding to the trade deficit in part, said:

” . . . it is good for us: it`s creating jobs and prosperity . . . ”

Of the mounting federal hock during his tenure, FDR said: ”We owe it to ourselves.”
