Once again, people are caught up in a Lady Diana mania. Enough literature has been devoted to ”Di” to topple a mountain. Will the day ever arrive when Americans look past her pretty face and wardrobe and ask: ”Just what has Diana contributed to mankind anyway? What superior talents does she possess, that the rest of us don`t?”

Princess Diana is no doctor, engineer or scientist. She`s not an author, musician, artist, actress or athlete. She doesn`t run a corporate empire, or command the British navy.

Diana may be the future queen, but ”queen” and ”princess” are mere labels, not indicative of a person`s greatness. Sticking a title before a name doesn`t endow that individual with exceptional genius. Yet, why is Diana so glamorized?

The money that goes into the ”royal family” could be used for hunger relief and medical research. I`ve never read about Diana making fantastic donations.

When are Diana and Charles going to beautify slums and help the illiterate, poor, unemployed and drug-addicted? Considering her resources, when is Diana going to start doing something, instead of being a spectacle for thousands of gawking people?

Society`s real heroes should bask in such fame and glory. Let`s not forget that the royal couple, believe it or not, are only . . . human.
