A group of investors said it has acquired 247,541 common shares, or 6.13 percent of the shares outstanding, of Zondervan Corp., a Bible publisher based in Grand Rapids, Mich. In its filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, the group said it ”does not intend to be a passive investor” in Zondervan. It said it might propose ”extraordinary corporate transactions such as a merger or sale of all or some of the company`s business.” The investor group includes Edward A. Viner & Co., a New York-based broker-dealer; Phase II Financial L.P., a New York limited partnership; and a private investor, Robert I. Toussie.
