The U.S. attorney`s office has filed suit in federal court seeking a court-ordered forfeiture of 1,000 ”Potato Head Kid” dolls that are alleged to be pirated copies of Cabbage Patch Kid dolls. The dolls were seized in December, 1984, by U.S. Customs Service agents at O`Hare International Airport. According to the lawsuit filed Friday, the dolls were imported from Taiwan by Mid-State Distributors of Fenton, Mich. The lawsuit, filed by assistant U.S. Atty. Frederick Branding, asks that U.S. District Judge William Hart order the dolls forfeited to the government for disposal.
