An error in a Monday editorial may have left the incorrect impression that sources had told Tribune reporters that Clarence McClain was present at an Aug. 29 meeting involving Mayor Washington`s chief of staff, Ernest Barefield, and Chicago Corporation Counsel James Montgomery. The sources did not say Mr. McClain was at the meeting. The Tribune regrets any
misunderstanding caused by its error.
