U.S. imports of cloth and clothing from 33 countries more than doubled between 1976 and 1985, according to figures released by the International Trade Commission before the opening Monday of final negotiations on an international framework. U.S. textile companies have been calling for greater restrictions on textile imports. Representatives of more than 50 countries will be meeting in Geneva to renew the Multifiber Arrangement that expires at the end of the month.
