Regarding J.S. Perry`s letter of Aug. 3 in support of ”men-only” clubs in which he wrote: ”Should I wish to form an organization of midgets, must we also accept as members people 7 feet tall?”

I`m surprised he didn`t add, ”If I want to form an organization of white people, must we also accept blacks?”

Few people today would suggest (at least publicly) that anyone be kept out of a social or service club because of his race. Yet Perry and others apparently feel it`s perfectly okay to exclude women purely on the basis of gender. This is nothing more than discrimination carried on under the guise of tradition.
