Fenwick, the new kid on the block in terms of soccer prominence, continued to make a name for itself with a 3-0 shutout over St. Ignatius in River Forest Tuesday.
The victory improved the unbeaten Friars` record to 9-0 overall and 7-0 in a three-way Catholic League race between Fenwick, Gordon Tech and Brother Rice.
”We`ve only had a soccer program at Fenwick for five years,” pointed out coach Dave Hogan, in his fourth year as head coach of the Friars. ”We`re making steady progress, though.”
Tom Stankus scored two unassisted goals and Pete Shannon added the third tally in Fenwick`s triumph over St. Ignatius.
Brother Rice 10, St. Rita 0–Allen Cassidy contributed 3 goals and Greg Kulhanek and Mark Rosciani had 2 goals apiece to power Brother Rice (8-3, 6-1) in the Catholic League.
Homewood-Flossmoor 7, Thornwood 2–Two goals each by Joe Bates and Mark Shenberger keyed H-F (8-1, 3-0) in the South Inter-Conference Association East Division.
Thornridge 5, Stagg 0–Thornridge (7-3, 3-1) rolled behind 2 goals and an assist by Kevin Mysziekiewicz. It was goalie Chris Martire`s fourth shutout.
Oak Park 3, Hinsdale Central 0–Sean Bandoo scored 2 goals and goalie Tron Ross got his fifth shutout for Oak Park (8-1-1, 4-0) in the West Suburban Silver.

Reavis–Second-ranked Richards (16-1, 6-0), tuning up for Wednesday night`s rematch with top-ranked Mother McAuley in Oak Lawn, concluded its first-half action in the SICA North with a 15-5, 15-10 triumph. Richards will be out to avenge Saturday`s loss to McAuley in the Rich East tournament finals.
Maria d. Riverside-Brookfield–Ellen Ryan (13 service points) and Melanie Krupowicz (4 kills) starred as Maria (12-7) outlasted No. 12 R-B 16-14, 7-15, 15-12 in nonconference play.
Lourdes d. Mt. Assisi–Fifth-ranked Lourdes (12-5, 3-1), behind Dee Dee DiCarlo (8 kills), Amy Bradley (80-of-83 sets), and Sue Burke (16 service points), prevailed 18-16, 13-15, 15-13 in the Girls Catholic Athletic Conference South Division.
Andrew d. Lockport–Noelle Vientara (9 kills, 3 service aces) led the way as Andrew (17-5, 6-0) prevailed 15-11, 15-13 to take sole possession of first place in the SICA West. Lockport fell to 5-1.
Crystal Lake Central d. Jacobs–Crystal Lake (15-3, 5-1) rolled to a 15-9, 15-9 victory in the Fox Valley behind Nancy Schram (5 kills, 7 service points) and Noelle Anderson (8 service points).
Evanston d. Maine South–Despite Christy Ward`s 8 kills for Maine (9-7, 2-3), Evanston (10-8, 4-1) forged to a 15-13, 15-12 victory in the Central Suburban League South Division.
Academy of Sacred Heart d. St. Benedict–With Jenny Wiatr (13 service points, 15 kills) and Cathy Villareal (16 service points, 17 kills) leading the way, Sacred Heart (enrollment 75) spiked St. Benedict 16-14, 13-15, 15-11 to post its eighth straight victory in the GCAC North (small schools).
Lincoln Park d. Steinmetz–Lincoln Park stopped Steinmetz 12-15, 15-8, 15-10 for its eighth straight victory in the Public League Blue-North.
Collins d. Manley–Lenell Gilmore (8 service points) and Peggy Liggins (3 kills) led the way as Collins (7-1, 7-0) beat Manley 15-9, 15-6 in the Blue-North Central.
Farragut d. Orr–Valerie Morales and Kim Lee had 11 service aces apiece in a 15-1, 15-0 rout as Farragut (6-1) won in the Blue-North Central.
