I have read some malicious and/or stupid columns over the years but Mr. Coffey`s recent cant about AIDS wins this year`s prize in both categories. By Mr. Coffey`s admission, homosexual sex, indeed often rape, is widely practiced in our prisons often by otherwise heterosexual inmates. Now, added to the victims` trauma is the possibility of an incurable deadly disease.
But, providing free condoms to protect the health of imprisoned rapees or active homosexuals is even ”more disgustingly barbaric” according to Mr. Coffey. Is that malicious or simply stupid?
Perhaps he would deny imprisoned AIDS patients medical aid, too?
