In an effort to boost sagging exports, the National Machine Tool Builders Association will provide insurance for contracts for up to $500,000 and help provide financing for machine tool makers selling products in foreign markets. Foreign tool shipments to the U.S. grew from $1 billion in 1983 toroughly $2 billion in 1986, said James A. Gray, association president, while exports declined 50 percent.
