Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

It`s nice to relax in front of the TV set during Easter and watch lions gobbling up Christians 2,000 years ago. Long time ago . . . ? Wrong. Only the names and the places have changed.

In the Soviet Union the war against God rages on unabated despite Gorbachev`s glasnost. In Soviet-occupied Lithuania, for example, grade school children get ”F`s” and students get bounced out of college for openly attending mass on Sundays.

According to the underground Chronicle of the Lithuanian Catholic Church, the KGB murdered Rev. Zdebskis a year ago, and has assaulted three priests during the last six months. Three Lithuanian religious leaders–Reverends Svarinskas, Tamkevicius and Matulionis–are still hauling logs in Siberia, while Lithuanian religious activists Balys Gajauskas and Viktoras Petkus are still rotting away in prison despite the ”benevolence” of glasnost. All this may give Christians something to think about during the holidays. Sorry. I didn`t mean to spoil your Easter.
