Raymond Coffey`s column of May 3 hit the nail on the head. In suggesting that those persons responsible for the current despicable state of the Chicago Housing Authority be considered criminals, Mr. Coffey brought up a point that both the press and the mayor have been ignoring.

I would think that Mr. Washington, Chicago`s so-called ”reform” mayor, would start his reforms by correcting the problems he allowed to compound during his first term. If he and the aldermen who promised sweeping changes don`t shape up, they may find themselves unemployed after the next election.
