A 31-year-old man was hospitalized in critical condition Tuesday after police wounded him at the end of a shooting spree. Edwin Torres, of 1520 N. Western Ave., was being treated in Illinois Masonic Hospital for wounds in the head and leg after he allegedly fired at four Shakespeare District police officers in a gangway at 1980 N. Milwaukee Ave. Monday night.
