In Ronald Kotulak`s article, ”Informer reportedly faces hit,” it is stated, ”Until last week, Fratianno, 74, had been paid more than $1 million over the last 10 years by the federal government while testifying against 30 mobsters in trials nationwide. The money was used for Fratianno`s housing, taxes and a new car.”

Is this government going absolutely crazy wasting the taxpayers` money in this way? And, $1 million! What good is it getting such expensive testimony when the criminals seldom serve their full terms if they`re convicted?

On the subject of criminals, please spare us pictures of such as ”Ex-Ald. Louis Farina, who recently completed a prison term for extortion, cuts a mean rug with a ballroom dance instructor Agnes DeBartolo.” The Tribune is glamorizing a criminal-on the front page of the ”Chicagoland” section. I find it disgusting and very un-American.
