We have had three children in public high schools since 1979. Two have graduated and each endured two strikes during four years. One is a senior and this has been her third strike in four years.

We have one child in elementary school now. I want the Board of Education and the City of Chicago to know that we will not be sending our last child to a Chicago public high school. We will either sell our home and move to a suburban school district, or we will pay the money for private education. You can deduct one more white, middle-class, bright child from your system.
